The Gregorian Etruscan Museum is part of the Vatican Museums. It was founded by Pope Gregory XVI in 1836 to collect works that were discovered at the beginning of the nineteenth century with archaeological excavations in the cities of that time were part of the Papal States.

With the demise of the Papal States ceased acquisitions in the field, while the museum was enriched through purchases or donations, including those of Falconer in 1898, Benedict and Giacinto Guglielmi in 1935 and 1987, and Mario Astarita in 1967.

The museum is set on 22 rooms and welcomes works and artifacts dating from the ninth century BC-I It is located inside the Palace of Innocent VIII (the end of the fifteenth century) and another building from the XVI century: they are exposed frescoes by Federico Barocci, Federico Zuccari and Pomarancio.
